Join master teachers Connie Borup and Marjorie McClure for five
days of painting and sketching on the beautiful Le Lavandin estate
in Provence. After a restful night's sleep at Le Lavandin and a
typical French Petit Dejeuner, artists will be offered morning
classes focusing on plein air oil painting of the landscape. A delicious
country French lunch will provide energy for afternoon classes offering
instruction in design. Late afternoons and evenings are open so
that students may enjoy this beautiful setting and the villages
in the surrounding countryside. A small group of eight students
will enjoy the benefits of personal instruction from Connie and
Marjorie who bring a wealth of experience in teaching and making
art to this workshop.
Connie Borup received both her BFA and MFA from the University
of Utah in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is known for her very personal
and interpretive paintings of the landscape of the Western United
States. Her paintings are shown at Phillips Gallery in Salt Lake
City, Utah, The Munson Gallery in Santa Fe, New Mexico, and Gail
Severn Gallery in Sun Valley, Idaho. Connie has been a painter and
a teacher for the past twenty-five years, spending the last ten
years as an instructor at the University of Utah. She now paints
full time in her studio in Salt Lake City, and teaches privately
for the Sun Valley Art Center in Ketchum, Idaho.
Marjorie Ann McClure is a Utah based figurative artist and
educator whose work has appeared at The Springville Museum of Art,
The Eccles Community Art Center, The Salt Lake Public Library Millennium
Show 2002 and numerous private exhibitions. Ms. McClure has taught
drawing and painting for twenty-five years, sixteen of which have
been Advanced Drawing and Painting, and eight years as an instructor
at the University of Utah. She was a finalist for the Richard D.
Bass Achievement Award 1991, Teacher of the year for 1991 and again
in 2002.
A list of recommended equipment to bring will be sent to each
participant upon registration.
